Respirator Fit Testing
Under the Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA):
Section 25(1)(a): Employers are required to provide protective devices.
Section 25(1)(d): Employers must ensure that these protective devices are used as prescribed.
Section 25(2)(a): Employers have a duty to provide workers with instruction and training to protect their safety.
The CSA Standard Z94.4-11 outlines the requirements for respirator fit testing. According to this standard, there are two acceptable methods for conducting a fit test: Qualitative and Quantitative. Both methods require a trained professional to perform an in-person assessment and provide training on the proper selection, care, and use of respirators.
All respirators that rely on a mask-to-face seal, including air-purifying, air-supplied, positive pressure, powered air-purifying respirators, and SCBA, must be evaluated using either a Qualitative or Quantitative method to ensure a proper fit for the wearer.
In Canada, each province has its own Occupational Health and Safety guidelines. In Ontario, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) recommends that respirator fit testing be conducted every 2 years to maintain compliance and ensure continued worker safety.
Designated Substance Report
Our hazardous materials reports provide a detailed inventory of hazardous substances present within a property, making them essential for pre-purchase evaluations or pre-demolition assessments.
These reports equip property managers and project planners with the necessary information to identify areas that require proper abatement before beginning renovation or demolition activities.
